A Day with Abe

Aaron and I made it into DC on Saturday! We finally got our metro cards in the mail (I feel pretty legit now), and we headed into the center of DC to walk around the National Mall. It was pretty warm, but perfectly clear the whole day.

The Washington Memorial has scaffolding around it because it’s being reinforced to protect it from earthquakes. Some people like it more now with the scaffolding, actually! It looks really cool when it’s lit up at night.

We saw the World War II Memorial, Vietnam War Memorial, and Korean War Memorial on our walk. They were so beautiful! The World War II Memorial (below) is my favorite with the pillars and fountains.
The Lincoln Memorial was the highlight of the walk for both Aaron and me.
We saw the White House in the distance, but we’re saving the Capitol Building and White House for another day.
We ended our day at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Say hello to Henry!
We loved the museum! It was amazing to see the dinosaur fossils, exhibits on the different ecosystems, the Hope diamond, and the cool mummy exhibit. Aaron and I are so excited to live so close to these incredible museums; it kind of makes us wish we could raise our kids nearby so they can grow up near all of this history and cool museums.

Thanks for a great Saturday, DC! I can’t wait to go back soon!

I love the Gettysburg address. Is that what is written on the wall that Aaron was looking at? I can’t tell, but it looks too long to be that.

I think he was reading his inaugural address. The Gettysburg was on the other side I think!
